Ping
Balls are rare metallic spheres found in the deepest regions of
space. Since they are charged with a special kind of spooky energy,
Ping Balls must keep moving - otherwise they blow up! Fortunately
they can be deflected by dropping mirrors in their path.
The
object of the game is to release the energy stored in crystals and
gems by colliding them with a Ping Ball.
Use
the mouse to move the pointer. Press the LEFT MOUSE
BUTTON to drop a mirror under the mouse. There are two types
of mirror - press the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON
to changed the type of mirror dropped. Press the MIDDLE
MOUSE BUTTON (or SPACE key) on a mirror
to remove it.
You
can pause the game at any time by pressing the (P)
key.
Press
ESCAPE to bring up the-in game menu. If you
get hopelessly stuck on a level, click the 'Restart Level' option
to try it again (but you will lose a life!).
There
are many different types of object in a PingBall level. Some will
help you out, others you have to avoid. Here is a list of some of
the things you will find on a Ping Ball level...
Gems
& Crystals

Collect all of these to complete the level!
Blocks

Ping Balls are deflected by blocks. Blocks can be blown up with
dynamite.
Glass
Spheres of glass containing a swirly vortex. At normal speeds Ping
Balls merely bounce off glass (like blocks).
At top speed though, a Ping Ball can smash glass!
Mines
Watch out for these! Mines will blow up on contact with a Ping Ball,
destroying both itself and your Ping Ball.
Fire
Like mines, fire will destroy Ping Balls on contact. Fortunately
fire can be extinguished with ice.
Slime

Big gooey balls of slime. Slime doesn't do much, it just prevents
you from dropping mirrors. The trouble is that slime spreads! Be
careful if you have slime on the lose, it could end up covering
the entire screen (eww!).
Transporters
Transporters are magical balls of energy left by a dying race of
aliens, that will instantly zap a Ping Ball to another transporter
on the screen. Ping Balls will always leave a transporter in the
same direction as it entered.
Dynamite

Dynamite is your friend! Collision with a Ping Ball will cause dynamite
to explode. The explosion will destroy nearby blocks,
and set of more dynamite. Fortunately though, Ping Balls are immune
to the dynamite explosions!
Ice
Blocks of super cold ice. Ice is very slippery and will move if
you hit it with a Ping Ball. You can use ice to extinguish fire.
Moving ice can also set off dynamite.
Shields
Ping Balls can move over shields, but you can not drop a mirror
on them. Shields can also stop sliding ice.
Weak
Shields

Weak Shields are like regular shields, but they can be cleared by
the Ping Ball.
There
are more things you will find on a Ping Ball map, but I'm not going
to tell you what they all are! Finding out is half the
fun. :)

Mirrors
are versatile. Not only can they deflect a Ping Ball, they
can also be used to stop the spread of slime and to stop
sliding ice. |
 |
Sometimes
the order that you collect gems and crystals is important.
If your Ping Ball keeps getting stuck, try solving the problems
in a different order. |
 |
You
have many mirrors, so try to plan ahead! |
 |
If
things get a little confusing, get the Ping Ball bouncing
between two blocks, or another safe place - so you can have
time to think. |
 |
Watch
out for chain reactions! Sometimes explosions can slide
ice, which can set off explosions, which can release Ping
Balls ... you get the idea. |
